I want to get a Dolby Digital/5.1/Dolby Surround reciever for my basement to replace the current crappy reciever thats hooked up to my TV. I also need a subwoofer down there. How much does a decent reciever and subwoofer go for?

Keep in mine that i'm not a money machine since i'm a highschool student. Is there anything affordable, with good quality?

Any prices for these brands?
And any specific models that you might suggest?

these are the speakers my friend has: martin logans

he paid about $2500 about 4 years ago. wants to sell them if anyone is interested. one of the electro static screens needs replacement though.

martin logan also makes subs, but i'm not sure how much they cost.

EDIT: these aren't for surround sound mainly audiophiles that like to listen to cds. just trying to help him sell them to anyone interested.

Save up the money and buy a Velodyne HGS series sub. You'll be glad that you did!
