I know IL has a state law that requires owners to allow you to bring in your own food/drink. Most don't know this though.

I grew up in IL and that is the first I have ever heard of that law. How do you know it is a law?

I couldn't tell you. My movie theater is in my living room.

You guys saying, "I don't know, I have a blu-ray player" must be from a different planet. I have 3d at home, blu-ray, 7.1 surround sound, etc. But you can't beat that movie theater experience. Not only do you get to see the newest movies, you get to see them larger than life. You get to buy junk food that you'd never eat anywhere else. You get to stick to the floor. You get to hear loud white people yell crazy things at the screen. You get to rush out to pee as fast as you can in the middle of the movie because you just drank 90 oz of Coke Zero.

It's the experience!

I think $12.50 sounds about right for 3d tickets.

I try to go to the first show because it would be the cheapest ($7).

I think 3D is $3 on top so about $10 per ticket. The last 3D movie I saw was Avatar and I thought it was worth it.

I didn't think you were allowed to do that?

Nothing says you can't - people do it all the time at Theaters which are next to strip malls.

3d movies range anywhere from $10-$15 with IMAX having the highest price of course.

Ten bux for adults. nine for kids.

The concessions are expensive though.

on Tuesdays, $6 for any ticket, any time of day.

Any other time, $7 w/military ID discount (2D). Haven't tried with 3D, I imagine discount brings it to about $9ish. I think 3D standard rates here are about $12 or $13.

I will be watching the new Tron in 3D. Yes, yes I will.

IIRC, the new Tron used the same 3D technology used for Avatar - which, btw, is above and beyond that annoying and gimmicky 3D of the past generations, and is actually adds more to the experience. The visuals have real depth, which is something I absolutely love. Fast motion, like in real life, can be blurry except for the one spot in focus, just like with real eyes. Another reason why I hate 120hz TV viewing, no blur makes it look artificial and annoying.

Agree.
I can't wait to watch Tron:Legacy 3D in a crowded theater.

That's fvcking crazy. Last time I went to a imax it was like $12, usually I go to one of the "olde" theaters kinda sorta near my house. They charge $3, but they don't have 3d and are somewhat derelict theaters ... but, they do show the same movies as all the other theaters ... they aren't like the $1 theaters of the 90s that got stuff months after the rest...

But, usually now, I'll just watch at home.

2D - $0.00
3D - $0.00
Imax - $0.00
Imax 3D - $0.00

Ahhhh, to work for the 2nd largest movie theatre chain in the world. I haven't paid for movies in nearly 10 years.

buy a ticket to the 2D movie. Wait for 3D to finish... grab some glasses from the "recycle" bin or keep them from previous flick.

Save some money.
