how much do you tip at a buffet for a $90 bill?

I didn't pay for but my aunt took us to todai and tipped $10. Though I think people should be tipped accordingly $10 for getting drinks at a buffet seemed a bit much
 
Waiters in most areas can make less than minimum wage. My friend got his check direct deposited a few weeks ago. Total amount after taxes: $6 and change. Yes, he pulls ~$100 a night in tips, but that's because it's tourist season. These people DO NOT MAKE ANY MONEY ON THEIR STANDARD WAGES!

Tip. If anything, it's good karma.

I'm a server at Cracker Barrel and I make $2.13 an hour, and I'm sure many other restraunts are similar. Think about that next time you go out to eat. I bust my ass off for people, and nothing, NOTHING, pisses me off more than when I do a good job serving someone (I do a hellavu lot more than fill your drink up, mind you) and they are cheap bastards and do not leave anything, or maybe only leave $0.50.

Depends on the service. I feel okay leaving a 10% tip at a buffet if the service is just average, but one place we go to for chinese buffet has terrific service and I usually leave them between 15 - 20%.
 
I only tip when I receive satisfactory service, and then at least 15%. As one does not usually receive actual service at buffets, I usually don't tip at buffets. And where I live, minimum wage applies to all workers, including waitstaff, so they receive $7.05/hr.
 
Why would you tip at a buffet? Your service at a buffet does not depend on the waiter, especially if you get your own drinks. The only thing the waiter does is clean up after you, but it has no relevance to you, because you aren't there.

No, I am no going to think about that next time I go out to eat. I am going to think about eating and enjoying the conversation with my family and friends, not guilt trip about your problems.
 
As long as the waiter did a decent job keeping the drinks full, 20-25%.

If it was a problem getting drinks then ~10%

EDIT: I used to work in the food industry so I tend to tip a little more. I also expect the same quality of service I used to give.

heh, while were on the subject of tipping.

Buffet? 10%.
Restaurant? 20-25%
Bar? 30-40%

you'd be amazed that I can walk into just about any establishment and be treated like royalty. Frequently eating or drinking for free.

i like it.
 
I would have probably tipped $10 to just make the meal about $100 even. Yesterday I was at a buffet for 5 people, bill came out to be $40, gave them a $6 tip. That worked out to be 15%.
