IMO, not much, only the stuff regarding national security and a bit more.
On the topic of non-governmental information control, I'd vote 2,5. The pharmaceutical industry is a major player.
interesting.. care to elaborate more?
An example:
Do some research/googling on vitamins and their effects, RDA and Codex Alimentarius (the pharmaceutical cartel's newest attempt to force utter stupidity on people), the existence or non-existence of vitamin overdosing and try to avoid propaganda-filled pages of either side (there are a lot of obviously wrong conspiracy theorists). Google how animals "supply" themselves with vitamins and why we (humans) are unable to do so to get a better understanding of the whole issue.
After googling, wonder why people buy vitamin-enriched food for their dogs.
🙂 Marketing can do wonders.
An "official" article regarding the daily dosages
According to te Codex A. and the aforelinked text, the recommended daily dosage of vitamin C is 60mg. Chances are, unless you eat rubbish, you consume more than that every day. Consuming 5000-10000mg a day wouldn't have any negative effects on you (a lot of people do it on purpose to stay healthy or recuperate faster).
Vitamins with the exception of C (and E, IIRC) can only be overdosed when consumed imbalancedly (way too much B and A will make your body need more of the others as well).
Of course, there are other interesting issues as well, like how stuffing children with less sharp focusing skills full of Ritalin "helps" them get better...
If you've read this far, you might want to look into the real prices of medications and why selling them is such a profitable business. Ask a family member who works in an apothecary about their profits.
