My guess:

He claims 500 million page views per month (PDF), let's say he averages $10 per CPM (he usually has a big ad on top and a little ad on the side) = $60 million/year

I'd be amazed if he was making enough to pay operating costs + have enough to live comfortably on without taking into account non-website revenue.

You know he just reposts links right? There is actually nothing to it. We do it for free on this forum all day. All his technical needs(if he were smart) would be outsourced to the hosting company.

He can't have that many people working on it. It is s simple site and basically a portal to outside sources for most things. I can see how a site like that would really only take 3-4 people to run.

But it is probably colo so he might pay the hosting service and then have his 3-4 people that update around the clock.

They probably have nothing to do with updating the site they probably handle billing and administrative shit.
