HOW MUCH DO YOU SPEND ON YOUR COMPUTER NEEDS A YEAR?

Not counting monthly internet connection and the occassional game???

Um. I've spent $400 on hardware in the last 2.5 years....so I guess about $160 a year.

You should make this a poll.

I average about $1200 on hardware a year... this year will be higher because I bought a $1000 LCD screen in addition to my typical mobo/cpu/ram/vid upgrades.

About $1,000 buying upgrades, new systems, a new laptop which I don't need or will never use.

And I'm about to buy my sister's Birthday Present. Just can't decide if I should get the extended warranty or not.

I only venture into HD and OT so if you're anywhere else then you're safe from me.

pyonir - If you ever need an extra keyboard, lemme know. Every now and then Best Buy has a generic free after rebate Windows keyboard on sale.

How close are you to Scottsdale?

Since you are rich, buy the extended warranty for her (don't forget the double warranty with the CC) . . .

If you don't they will offer it to her anyway a couple of weeks later.

And I just can't say . . . I'd say way in excess of $1k a year (laptop last year was my "major" purchase).

nah, my keyboard is good. about 45 mins from scottsdale. depends on where in scottsdale.

If it were a Dell/Gateway/Micron then I wouldn't worry about a warranty but I'm sure her hacker wanna be boyfriend is gonna screw something up bigtime on HER PC.

Do you think $129 for a 3 year extended warranty is a good price? Will BB be around in 3 years?

Do I think that BB will be around for 3 years? Yes.

Do I think BB has techs that can fix most PC problems without doing a total reload? No.

Well I'm glad BB will be around in 3 years.

If she ever has to bring it in for repair I'll make sure she does a total backup first.

No and I sure hope not. :disgust:

For me 1 year manufacturer's warranty + 1 year free extended premium credit card warranty are plenty. Computer tend to become out of date within 2 years. And the most important part of the system - the monitor - usually carries a 3 year mfg. warranty.
