How much do you spend on groceries?

Girlfriend and I usually go once a week and load up for the week. I don't usually buy very much at once, since I'll sometimes forget what I bought, and it ends up going bad.

Just got back from a super Wal-Mart. Picked up a 4 or 5 dinners, 24 pack of Diet Pepsi, snacks/food for work, some beer, and a new loofa and weighed in around $45.00. Can't buy too much, since other housemates' food takes up quite a bit of fridge/freezer real estate.

Do you buy for weeks/month in advance, or do you just get what you need for the week and call it good?

man...like $60 a week. Prices are so dam high. Just 4 years ago, i could have bought groceries to last me 2 weeks for $60....now $60 only buys half of that.

For the wife and I we budget $120 a week but we usually end up spending less than that. That's usually because one shopping trip lasts more than one week. We cook a bunch rather than buy prepared food and that helps on costs.

That's the trick: Cook from scratch. Buying prepared foods get real expensive, real fast.

For myself about $20-30 a week. Bare essentials though, because I don't cook that much and I eat out a couple times a week.

$100 or so a month. Usually shop at safeway, sometimes wal-mart.

I eat a lot of venison, elk, chukar, duck, goose, pheasant, quail, and fish from my flyrod as much as I can though.
