I start a new job next week and I'm trying to figure out my expenses. I'm thinking $200.00 a month for groceries? Or is that not enough?

That's $6.66 a day. It's doable. But it gets boring fast, and isn't always that healthy. One *GOOD* meal out and you can't eat (or at least eat well) for three days.

My personnal food expense would be about 350 a month, not including any nice going out dinners.

Well Ramen is usually 5/$1 at Meijer... so 3 meals X 7 days X 4 weeks = 84/5 = ~$17.

So for less than $20 a month you can enjoy 3 meals a day.

I spend around $450 for me, the wife, and the brat. It will probably cost you more than you think.

About $200 a month on groceries; that doesn't count my (too frequent) trips to Wendy's or household stuff.

And have about 250% your RDA of sodium along with it :)

If we don't eat out, around 400 per month.
We buy a lot of produce, and a lot of meat
not much of the frozen stuff at all
both my wife and I are good cooks

of course, our daughter is eatin like a fricken hog now, so that number is about to go up
(not to mention the baby that will be added to the family on tuesday)

I'm probably at about $150-170/month or so... You can easily go over $200, if you're not into eating cheap meat though... When I was in college, I was able to keep it under $70/mo. Back then my diet involved a lot of eggs, SPAM, and rice.

I eat $3 vegetarian meals daily, drink about $4 worth of Orange Juice every 3 days, and eat whatever on weekends. That makes my budget somewhere around $160 a month

I was talking to this with bradruth on AIM a while back. Looking over my credit card bills, I spend nearly $1000 a month in restaurants. :Q

I figure about $200 for groceries, most of which I throw out. And $40 for the cat food each month.
