Between my wife and I, probably 2 or 3 a month. I would buy more if I could find music I like.

Between the two of us we probably have 1000+ Cds

Wow, I'm impressed. Seriously

Did I just tame the fiery dragon? ;). I actually got 5 of their albums... I like Octupus the best, 2nd would be Three Friends

Squisher - Between my brothers and I, we have about 1000, I have about 400 and they have 300 each... albeit we all have the entire Rush collection :p. I can always find music I like... Usually I hunt for good music. Q Magazine is a good source of music, and it comes with an awesome demo CD.

I buy around 3 a month, at about $10-13 each, shipped, from mymusic.com (when they've got what I need), or straight from record labels. I buy a large amount of indie records which unlike Top 40 stuff are not as easy to obtain over the internet. In addition, these people aren't moving millions of units, and they're on small labels that allow them creativity and pay them fairly. So when I buy one of their records I'm supporting them and their music in a very real way. I'm putting food in their mouths instead of jewelry around their (and their labels) necks.

I'm not big on mp3 CD's anyway because the sound quality sucks so much that they are worth every penny of the $0.00 you paid for them. And yes I know you CAN make really good sounding mp3's, but most of the ones you find on p2p services and FTP flat out suck.

I have bought only 1 Music CD so far, and that was almost five years ago. I either listen to the radio or download the albums I want. ;)

boy·cott Pronunciation Key (boikt)
tr.v. boy·cott·ed, boy·cott·ing, boy·cotts
To abstain from or act together in abstaining from using, buying, or dealing with as an expression of protest or disfavor or as a means of coercion. See Synonyms at blackball

So if you are abstaining, all the power to you... but if you are going out and still getting the product (even if it is for free), then I don't think that is
a true boycott.

I meant exactly what I said - a true boycott.

Your lecture wasn't necessary. :)

I buy maybe 2-3 cds a year. I only get stuff that is reasonably priced (under 15 bucks) or on sale.

:D

Discover USED CDs - they are a great bargain. I didn't say start stealing or stop listening to music. ;)

apoppin - Over half my collection is from used CD's :). Doesn't a boycott mean abstaining from the product though? Maybe I don't know what I am talking about :)

No . . . well, it depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I want to boycott the RIAA (not the artists whose concerts I attend).

Buying a new CD supports the RIAA rather directly. Buying a used CD does not since they do not get ANY money from the second sale.

apoppin - I hear ya... for some reason I linked buying a used CD with supporting RIAA somehow... I think buying 100% used is a good idea... too bad many people around my parts link buying used CD's with supporting CD theft. You can't win :)
