My history is pretty short compared to some, but I remember it pretty well.

1998-1999 : AT&T Dialup - 33.6k
1999-2000 : AOL Dialup - 56k
2000-2002 : Earthlink DSL - 256kb
2002-2003 : Dorm Internet at UCI (T3 lines)
2003-2007 : Living in Irvine, using Cox Cable connection - 1.5 down
2007-2010 : Moved to San Diego, using Time Warner Cable - 15 down
2010 : Moved to San Luis Obispo - Using Charter internet service. This shit sucks real bad.- barely every works, but when it does 12 down
2010 : also had to get AT&T DSL so I can maintain a stable internet connection when I'm working from home. :( - 1.0 down

C64 eh? Never got to play with one of those. Before my time I reckon. Could have been cool.
Did get to play with Apple IIe's in classrooms when I was young, the big 5.25" disks and the various games on them.

How do you like Cox? Do you like Cox a lot?

EDIT: Oh and I had...

AOL Dial Up
8mbit Verizon DSL
15mbit Optimum Online
30mbit Optimum Online

if you're trying to make a penis joke, you're failing miserably.

as an ISP, cox are, well, a bunch of cocks. piece of shit for reliability's sake.

but i'm kinda stuck with them, no other real options offered in my area.

We got our first computer around year 2000, with dialup. Then sometimes down the line, maybe 2005 high speed internet was available, and we got it maybe a year later. It was actually a Christmas present.

14.4 uplink through Info-90 BBS.
56k Through Penn Tele Data
Penn State dorm connection
56k Through Penn Tele Data
Cable through Service Electric
DSL through Penn Tele Data
Cable through Service Electric
DSL through Windstream

Other than the Penn State dorms, this is all the same house. Yeah I did not like our home ISP choices and kept switching back and forth.

Proud to say I have never partaken of AOL or DSL.

Cox Cable, Comcast Cable (yuck), Cox Cable, and some local dial-up before that. And a Verizon 3G card in there for awhile.

I was with AOL for a while but got increasingly disenchanted until I hated it. Then I had dialup with a local outfit. Went from there to pacbell.net DSL and been with them ever since. Boosted speed a few times. Pretty simple history.

One of my old ISP was Softdisk.

A bit of history, that was the computer/internet company the guys that created id software (Commander Keen/Doom/Quake/etc.) worked for before they became rich and famous.

Don't remember dates:

2.6k Prodigy
2.6k Compuserve
2.6k, 14.4k, 56.6k AOL<- I remember how you couldn't do anything else while you were downloading a file
COX Cable
SuddenLink Cable

Did anyone do those "sli" modems? Where you could use 2 56k modems, 2 land lines, and double the speed?
