How much do you really own?

Do you have a clear title to your car, truck, suv, home, boat,,,,,,,,?

If you walked through your home and said "that is paid for, and it belongs to me", how many items would be on the list?

Everything. My wife and I don't have any debt, except the revolving debt on my credit cards that are paid off entirely before the due date.

I rent my apartment, own my car. Fiancee and I own all possessions inside the apartment.

There's a lot of "utility" items (cookware, basic furniture, desks, basic tools). Almost all of the furniture are hand-me-downs. There are also some luxury items (computer, old tube TV, outdoor/climbing equipment, electric piano, music collection, books, cheap grill). Other than that, though, we live a pretty simple lifestyle and don't need much, which is fortunate since we're not exactly top income earners (grad students).

All of it except the apartment I live in, and whatever is here for which the credit card bill hasn't yet arrived (or is on 0&#37😉. 😛

Everything I have, besides where I live, I own. I've decided I'm not going to buy anything unless I can own it the moment money leaves my hand for it. This is why I got rid of my truck and it's payment, to get something I would only have to pay maintenance on.

I rent my apartment, but that's the only thing I can think of that I don't own.

my car is mine, my student loans are paid off, and I have no significant credit debt.

I even own my cable box.

+1 for everything but my home...of course I haven't actually closed on it yet so for the next two weeks I own everything 😀

Everything. That can't be too unusual. For people who rent and don't have car payments (or own a car) I would imagine in many cases everything else in their residence is owned outright.

Same as most here, own everything except the condo. Never made payments on anything in my life, will soon change though if I can find the right place.

Tricky question. Most of the time it isn't worth it to have everything paid free and clear because the money could be producing more return than the interest on a loan costs me.

should have started with pre tax income and included "government owns me" in there

I made my own version of that chart,

Kinda fun to see where everything goes (blank space at the end due to my irregular income, and on a given month where there is more it probably ends up being spent on fun).

Oh, and that doesn't include state sales tax, far too much of a hassle to figure that one out
