how are you guys getting such speeds at such low prices?

when you say your area, do you mean MAN?

I need to run either PTP or VPN between GA and SC, I doubt at these distances I can get such prices, or am I missing something?

About 850 with local loop, 200 or so off our channelized DS-3. DS-3 runs about 2300 monthly. Looking at adding broadband into our mix for select areas. 10MB point to point in our area runs about 800 monthly.

on that note since we're on fiber a 100 Base-T connection is 300 a month.

Nice. :D

Too many of my sites are in the sticks and our area is just getting fiber in metro areas that is "cheaply" available.

well it all rides over an OC12 ring anyway. The price of metro gear is really coming down. The 100 Base-T service is as easy as slapping in a card and assigning the 3 STSs to it.

If we didn't already have the ring it would be considerably more expensive.

I currently have 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up using Cablevision's Optimum Online for just $45 per month. It's not the upload speed of T1, but it's enough for me. I can't wait for fiber.
