The actual cost is $9. I give the guy $10-12 depending if I have any ones.

Most mom and pop Vietnamese places are super cheap and there is one on every corner here.

Expensive up by me. I got my head shaved to the scalp with a straight razor once a week for the last 2 years. The two closest places to me charge $20 or $25 for that. Plus $5 tip. Did that for awhile once a week but a few years back I used to buzz my head once a week - I bought the top of the line Oster Classic 76 clippers with a 000 or 00000 blade and did it myself. I'm back to doing it myself, once a week with a 00000 blade.

I'm saving $1200+ a year now in clear money doing it myself and I am pretty much just as happy. Ideally I'd like to be ATOT rich and be able to go to a barber 2-3x a week to shave it with a 000 blade.

$5 at the beauty school here. I know the manager so she always puts me with someone that knows what they're doing PLUS a fairly simple men's haircut isn't rocket science. $8 total. Great deal.

Zilch. Been cutting my own hair since i was 19 (41 now). It's very easy now though as i'm balding and just shave it with an electric shaver. 🙂

I just hated driving to the hair salon and waiting even with an appointment more than the cost of the haircut. 45 minute drive to the hair salon, wait of 5 to 15 minutes. Another 15 to 30 minutes for the haircut and another 45 minute drive back home. That's basically about 2 to 3 hours wasted for a simple haircut. Now I just walk to the bathroom and sit in a chair and my wife cuts my hair in about 15 to 30 minutes. I take a shower and I'm sitting on the sofa watching TV right after. Can't beat that.

I see quite a few of you mentioning eye brows. Do all men get their eye brows trimmed/shaped. I always through this was strictly a woman thing but you have me interested.

My driver picks up my barber every Monday and brings him to my office for my standing 10 a.m. haircut appointment. $275. When he began he only charged $150, but that was almost ten years ago. It's his day off, so I understand.

As I've gotten older my eyebrows have gone insane with hairs flinging every which way so, yeah, I let the barber trim them each time.

There's a cheap salon here that charges $10 for walk-ins, but provides coupons in mailers for either $7 or $8 depending on the month they release them. I usually get my hair cut every 3 weeks so I do that when I have a coupon....or pay up to $12 for the place across the street.....in all cases, I tip $1.
