You can't justify it unless you can prove to yourself that you're hitting your current caps. It won't improve your ping in games or anything.

Might be possible to host a game server with the additional upload bandwidth, or one with more players at least.

i need to upgrade to the extreme dsl... :( its only like five bucks more i think. i'm not sure if my mom would even bother with upgrading the service when she doesn't surf the web that often though.

That's what I have and use. I want the extreme as well, only problem is that I live in an IFITL area and it's not available in IFITL atm.

Maybe $60 for 2000/256.

There is 100Mbit available for under $70 at some places here, I think.

Exactly, i would love some of that 2gb up speed from Verizon for the new server I'm getting...seriously. Verizon says it's not offered here, what about the Fiber optic you're talking about, is it the same thing?

Im paying much more for 6md/600K up, but very low latency. no question im overpaying (120/month) but the service is good and I chose to try to make a market for high speed. I recomend broadband reports for this kind of question. You can sort out what your choices are reasonabitly quickly there.

Comcast cable customer:
4 Mbps/384 Kbps $43
6 Mbps/768 Kbps $53

non-Comcast cable customer:

6 Mbps/768 Kbps $68

That FIOS thing sounds pretty sweet. I've never heard of it before and the site is down. Any additional info?

Charter is one of the most expensive Cable HSI :(

It is THE most expensive because they know they have a monopoly with their customers. Verizon will change that when it becomes available.

FIOS sounds great, not available in my area (Los Angeles). Any one know of anything similar available in L.A.? I currently have Charter cable 3000/256...

$45 for 3mb/378 with Bellsouth. Its normall $55 but they give you a $10 break if you get the phone service as well.

Me too. Apparently theyve hacked the Dlink modem to allow 15mb+ speeds. My off-the-shelf Dlink will only get 5mb/sec. So i have a dlink wifi router hooked into a dlink cabled router lol.

Still, life is good.

Some of you are some spoiled bitches. 1024/256 with a wonderful 10MB cap for *only* $60/month.

Unfortunatly, "Extreme high speed" internet is far out of reach for me.

I have to settle for 6mbit/500kbit.

(I don't consider it "extreme" unless both the upstream and downstream are over 100mbit)

i have RoadRunner too... 1.5Mb/384kb @ $30. I think they increased it to 3mb now,not sure. But uploads suck at 50kb or something.
Im in NC...does anyone know of a better alternative. Verizon FiOS isnt here yet.
