How much do you pay for CDs?

Disgusted. I went to buy a CD today to find that almost all CDs cost 16.99 - 18.99. WTF!?!?

I don't really like MP3s because I don't trust other peoples encoding skills, plus I think the artists should get paid (the recording industry maggots, that's another story).

How much are you willing to shell out for a CD?

$.50 for my CD's. I find a friend that spends their money on a cd and "borrow" it. Then if he/she ever wants a cd, it's on me.

Average of around $12 probably. I don't buy used CD's, & I don't like copies.

I've got you all beat... $0.00, buying CD's is stupid to me, I don't think it's worth the money to buy 15 songs and I only want one or two of them. Napster is the greatest invention ever. I still will buy CD's on occasion if there is a bunch of songs on a CD I want or if I just want the CD, but I download the song first. If Record companies want me to buy their CD's they're going to have to make the price of their CD's cheaper, until then I'm going to find alternative ways to get my music.

Anymore I buy them used for $5-$8 at CD Warehouse where I live. I've actually found CD's still shrink wrapped selling for those prices. I'm talking about popular artists, too. If you pay more than $15.00 for a CD you are a fool--it's a pure rip off.

$13.99 is my max. price. With MP3's I can't stand to pay more than that for a piece of plastic...

#12.99 TOPS.
It's been a VERRRRRY lonnnng time since I put money down on a CD that had more than 1 decent song on it. $12.99 is the highest I'm will wager that whatever CD I'm picking up has more than 1 good song.

I don't buy CDs because I don't particularly care about the artists who rely on CDs for their revenue scream. Britney Spears can blow me. I prefer to support the artists I like (most of which release their music through mp3s anyway) by going to their shows. Don't get my wrong, I think musicians should be able to make a living through their work, but WHY should they have a better living than people who do a helluva lot more work to get a lot less money. I guess I don't feel that Actors/musicians/etc deserve to be rich simply because they are "popular."

Maybe I'm just spiteful.

Wow, buying CDs in midtown NY sucks. I know downtown I can get them for 10 - 15 bucks. The most I would be willing to shell out is 12.99 and that would have to be a really good CD.

The sad thing is that it has been a long time since I heard a really good CD. :(

Circuit City B&M usually has new releases on sale for $8.99 to $13.99 which is a great deal compared to Sam Goody, Suncoast, Warehouse Records, Tower Records, etc.

Also Buy.com usually has good prices, but the shipping kills the deal.

Kozmo.com sometimes has $9.99 CDs and they deliver to you within an hour for free if you order before 3 PM. Unfortunately they may not carry the CD you're looking for or may not be available in your city.

Best Buy B&M also has good prices on CDs, typically I pay $11.99 to $12.99

Most I'll spend is $17.99 on a single CD. Imported CDs I'll spend a maximum of $36.99. Usually, any higher and I'll include the song I wanted in my mixes.. :D

If there are 4+ tracks that I like, then I would buy the CD. $15 MAX. $30 MAX for import.
