How much do you (or your parents) pay for car insurance yearly?

I'm just wondering - apparently it has a lot to do with where you live. I live in Carrollton, TX, a small suberb outside of Dallas. My parents pay around $1400 a year for LIABILITY only. (I'm 19 years old) And this is on a 1988 Honda Accord LXi 4 cylinder. Never been in an accident, never had a ticket. A guy at work who is only 17, drives a brand new 2001 Civic pays around $1100 a year for full coverage, (although under his mom's name) and he lives probably 15-25 miles from me. Two of my cousins in Memphis, Tennessee pay around $750 a year for liability and they're both only 18. (One female, one male) Then another one of my cousins in Oxnard, CA (male) who is 18 pays $800 a year for full coverage on the exact same car as me. This pisses me off because this is the only thing stopping me from getting a new car. If I lived like 25 miles elsewhere I might get a cheaper rate, but nooo, insurance companies have to be tight wads about it. The only way I'm getting a new car is if: a) I turn 21 (another year and a half) or b) I get married (which isn't happening anytime soon) Sooner or later I'll move out and hopefully to somewhere with cheaper insurance but I just wanted to know what everyone else is paying. (Include age, location, married or not, full or liability) Thanks!

I live in Southern NJ and drive an '87 Jeep Wrangler Laredo and pay about 1300/yr for just Liability. I'm 21 and don't have any points. NJ normally blows for insurance from what I hear.

I am in the Phildelphia suburbs. I pay about $800/year for full-coverage on a '97 Ford Ranger 4x4. I have discounts for having dual airbags, 4-wheel ABS, antitheft system, and a perfect driving record. I am 29 and single.

2500/year...3 cars/4 drivers... parents, me (21), sis (18). It used to be 1800 until I got a 107mph speeding ticket and almost got my license pulled. oh well..damn the pigs, i'm not bitter anymore.

Lets see, $600 a year for a 94 Dodge Caravan /Full coverage.
$650 a year for a 96 Pontiac Grad Prix / Full
and $48 a month(for both) for a 74 Jeep CJ-5 and 71 Olds Cutlass / liability.

so thats a total of $1850 a year , give or take, for 4 cars. both the wife and I are coming up on 35 yrs old.

Male 32 driving a 1990 Honda Civic Si with a 40% discount - $1100/year. I'll be getting a $100 rebate because the government run auto insurance company made a heap of money in the stock market & the amounts paid out for accidents are much lower this year.

Cheers,
Aquaman

Pay around $350-$400 each for my 2 cars a year for liability. I am 25 and live in Wv. It used to be about $1200 for one car a year but then I turned 24 🙂.

edit
I am single

I'm jealous of a few of you. Some of you others I'm not 😉

RagingBITCH:

I live pretty close to you, I'm in north dallas at 635 and 75 and the rates here in Dallas are so much higher than when I lived in Indianapolis. Due to the fact we live in a metroplex, or close to it anyhow with you in Carrolton, that's why we pay so much more than other areas of the country. Not to mention Dallas is like number 4 on the top 10 stolen car cities. Mine was stolen in September, i was pretty upset losing $4500 in stereo equipment and $2500 in CDs. Anyhow.

50/100/50 Full coverage on 1994 Chevy Blazer, I pay about $2350/year. Freaking high. I have only one speeding ticket on my record which was back in 1998.
