List your phone and plan details. I am curious, because here the plans are expensive as shit. I just got offered a plan on a blackberry which includes, 250 minutes daytime, unlimited evenings and weekends after 6 pm, 6 gigs of data transfer, GPS, voicemail, 2500 text messages, call display

For 105 $ per month with taxes.

I also did some research, it is imposible to get a regular phone plan here for less then 50 $.

It's funny because at first I was told the GPS on a blackberry works, then I was told I need a data plan (30 $ per month for 6 gigs), and now I just found out I have to pay an additional 10 $ per month just to use the "special" GPS service.

oh btw my provider is www.rogers.com

About a hundred bucks a month for our two lines. I want to say like 900 minutes and data on both lines, but there is a substantial employer discount. Provider is Sprint.

And Blackberries are rip-offs, no question about it. Give me a normal Windows Mobile phone any day of the week.

Hmm, I just signed up for a new plan and quit my rogers provider. This is what I got.

200 minutes daytime
voicemail, unlimited text, call display
unlimited evenings and weekends after 6 pm weekdays
unlimited data usage (email, surfing, gps, etc)
blackberry 8130 black phone (0 $ with 3 year term)
I can add 10 numbers which I can have unlimited calling with anytime (eg family, best friends, etc)

All for 65 a month with tax. That sure as hell kills the 105 $ plan with less on rogers.

What is a windows mobile phone?

Two lines-Alltel
500 peak minutes-shared
10 my circle #'s (free calling to/from 10 numbers)-shared (we use about 3000 min a month)
free 7pm nights/weekends, free mobile to mobile
unlimited text, picture and video messaging on both lines
unlimited data on both lines (one WM phone, one BB)
$129/month before taxes, no discounts unfortunatly :(

As far as your gps, what I had to do with my wife's pearl to unlock the gps was run the carriers gps app (for alltel it is telenav), cancel the navigator service, but dont remove the gps app, just hide it. Dont use it again as it will start your subscription again, but from what I understand, it needs to be on the device to unlock the gps.

Ahh yes a true master, did I get a good blackberry? The 8130 in black? Or should I have spent like 200 $ on a palm treo or something instead as opposed to the free BB?

My wife and I share a plan for $70 for 500 US nationwide minutes, unlimited US nationwide night and weekend minutes, and unlimited EDGE data - but no text messages. We usually end up paying closer to $78 after taxes and texting charges. No discounts, although my wife's employer reimburses us for more than half the bill.

Good phone. Grab the 4.5 OS. Do a search on forums.crackberry.com for it.

Rogers is good if you've been with them for a while, but their plans for new customers are pretty bad.

Here's what I have:
275 minutes, unlimited evenings/weekends 6PM to 8AM
100 minutes canadian long distance
caller ID, voicemail, etc.
for 38$/month (including taxes, fees, 911, everything!)

Data account isn't even configured in my phone. :D I think it's still too expensive, and I honetly couldn't stand carrying a smart phone in my pocket all day, they all feel big and heavy compared to my W810.

I'm with Telus, using a Blackberry 8830. Pretty much same price as you:

Free incoming calls
150 Daytime
Free nights (9:00PM) and weekend
Voicemail/call display/text
50% off roaming
4MB data

Seems like you did pretty well. I never even come close to my limits, particularly with free incomnig calls since I can just get everyone to call me back if I happen to get close, so this plan works very well for me.

Ive been with rogers for around 9 years now with internet, I also got home phone. I can't believe they did not want to keep me as a customer and let me go to telus.

$50 for $350 worth of cap. Depends how many calls I make. Haven't got a contract because there really no benefit aside from a free phone.

Sprint SERO

Unfortunately, Sprint changed the terms of the SERO plan to $60/month sometime this past July and it's called the "Everything Plus" plan now. This leaves a bad taste in my mouth about the company since now they have thousands of people running around paying only $30 for a service that they want to charge me $60 for.

And people had over 3-4 years to sign up for SERO. Not to mention that it was HIGHLY abused and It's reasonable to assume that 90% of the people who signed up for it were not referred by an employee. They just got fake names off the internet. It was not a plan for the general public.
