How much do you drink when you're the designated driver?

One beer every two hours supposedly keeps you under the limit. Personally I would just drink water or something.

I dont like alcohol. I had a margarita the other day and went out drifting...........that was the first time I drank in months and probobly the last. I wasnt drunk, or even buzzed, but I just dont like the idea of driving after I ingested drugs.

One beer when I get there, maybe a second if I'm absolutely certain that it'll be several hours before I have to leave.

I don't tend to find myself in situations where I need to be the DD though. I don't like bars and I don't like hanging out with drunk people.

Pretty much this. However, when I'm the "DD", I'll typically get as wasted as everyone else. Then when the cop pulls me over, I just tell him "Oh I'm the DD for tonight" and everyone else acts super drunk/obnoxious and they let me go.

Pretty much this, although I get to DD 50% of the time (split duties with the wife :D).

1-2 BEERs max unless it is an all day event...then I just make a judgement call based on time. Luckily this situation almost never happens since I generally can take public transportation wherever we're headed.

1 or 2 beers. 3 if Its a long time.

I tend to drink IPAs/Imperial Stouts, and those are a bit higher in ABV compared to mainstream lagers and what not. Meaning it's more like 2-4 "servings" of alcohol, or up to 6 servings for longer gatherings of 4+ hours.

Anyhow, at 300+ pounds, it doesn't phase me or affect me in a significant/noticeable way. BAL may approach .02 or .03, but not close to "legal limit."

Very little, if any. Probably a beer, glass of wine or "low-alcohol" cocktail (something like a mojito or amaretto sour) upon arriving based on an estimate that we will stay at the venue for a certain amount of time. Most of the time when there's an established DD, there's also not a specific timeline you're following (at least in my experience), so the DD needs to be ready to go at a moment's notice, which means no drinking at all.

depends on the group...

Whiskey dick is a pita when some drunk girl you've driven home is acting like she wants you to take advantage of her...

I've only been a DD once. It was at a bachelor party. I refused to continue being a DD after dinner when 5 of the 7 people present drank heavily, then overruled the two DD's and said we were splitting the tab evenly. I'll pay for the drinks of the man of honor, but not those other a-holes.

No more than one drink of any kind. being sober (ok, 95% sober) is kinda the whole point of designated drivers.
I always thought the point of a DD was to have someone that was under the legal limit to drive, not be sober.
