How much do you deposit into your 401k per paycheck?

9% plus 3% match plus about another 3% company profit sharing at the end of the year. Most "experts" say you need to contribute 15% if you want to maintain your standard of living in retirement.

You won't miss money that never hits your bank account.

They match up to 3% so I put 3% in per check. The funny thing is that most people at my work don't put in anything. As long as you put in what they match it's a 100% profit on investment immediately and the money comes out before taxes.

Are you guys talking about buying your companies stock?

Retirement plan

6% into any fidelity mutual funds of my choice... they match $0.50 of 4% into the company stock fund... it's free money i guess.. vested from day one.

If your company doesn't match then don't contribute to the 401k. Put your money in an IRA, especially if a Roth is optimal for you.

403K - 9% of the first 16500, 12% up to salary - 16500, I am limited to 3% of my own.
So I do 3% and employer puts in over 11% (Total) in addition.

i contribute zero, company has a profit sharing plan that will contribute 15% of income deposited into an investment account.

There are no such rules. If you're in a higher tax bracket a 401k is potentially favorable for tax-deduction; in addition, if you don't meet the MAGI rules you can't get the tax-deferrment benefits of a Roth, and you can't get the tax-deduction benefits of a Traditional IRA either.

15% into 401K (non company stock) with a 3% match.

15% into company's employee stock purchase program that buys stock at 10% off market value (which I immediately sell).
