there was a job fair at my school today and I only went to get freebees (scored 2 whistle keychain combos, 3 high-lighters, a pen with a cord thing on it, and refrigerator clip magnet) but ended up talking to 2 people.

the one who seemes really interested was Verizon, and she kept pressing me for a salary # I would expect as a junior market analyst. I don't even know what a junior market analyst does. So she finally let me leave after I told her I would consider an offer if they would come close to $40K, depending on benefits and the work program.

so does anyone know what salary range the junior analysts get? I have no exp in the telecom field or >6 months of 'real' work exp for that matter, but the hr person did tell me that she was impressed with my resume.

I live in the NYC metro area

thanks in advance

I don;t want to put in the hours at a wall street firm or a bank. They may get paid more, but it is not worth losing the best years of your life. I also did not major in finance or econ.

Verizon's "market analyst" is not going to be quite the same as a "market analyst" for a bank or investment firm. Verizon's going to be looking for someone who will help their marketing department basically, not for someone who can tell which direction the stock market is heading.
