you get commission? what percentage?

That's highly dependent on the store. I don't know about shoe stores but office supply, big chains like Target, grocery, and most stores at the mall do NOT pay commission. About the only ones I know of that might pay commission are electronics stores (CC used to but I think they did away with it)

radioshack gives you commision, and often footwear places give commisions. The thing is that the hourly rate usually goes down (esp at RS) so you can end up with less than you imagine.

sell women shoes at macy's, that's comission for sure.

work at goodguys, if there's a store near you. good money, full time only though in most places.

i work at footaction.. i get $6/hour w/ 2% commission

IT SUCKS! can't wait til summer is over so i can quit ;-)

Clothing stores generally pay commision.

That's news to me. Structure/Express doesn't, A&F, A&E, Victoria's Secret all don't. Don't know about Old Navy/GAP though

Ok,well my fiancee made commission at JC Pennys and at Dillard's, and a friend of mine makes commision at nordstrom. Everyone I can think of selling clothes at department stores has made commision, maybe it's only some stores then. 🙂

Uh, no they don't unless they are a specialty, high dollar store. Your Gaps, Old Navy's, Structure do not.

Ahh ok....I didn't know about dept stores...never worked at one. I don't think I've ever been helped out in the few times I used to buy clothes from department stores...that's some easy commission apparently 🙂

I work at Walmart and make $7.32/hour granted I started off at $6 and I almost have 3 years in so it really sucks. I'm sucking up overtime this week though. 13 hours I worked yesterday and so I'll have at least 8 hours of overtime in this week.

IT CERTAINLY depends on your regional location. People in the South get paid a lot less than people in New England. I get $6/hr at my job here in Florida, but somebody up North doing the same thing I'm doing would get $7-8.

I'm a service clerk at Walgreens. I just started at $6.00/hr, but I'm expecting a 30-cent raise soon.
