How much do models make?

I just got off the phone with a friend of mine from High School who I haven't seen in years. Apparently, she dropped out of College and became a model instead. Now, she's modeling for small local commercials and in-store displays for retailers like American Eagle.

How much money would someone like that have? Over 100K?

Hourly, it might sound good for some gigs, but the problem with being a model is the inconsistency of work...you might have a high paying spread this week, but nothing for a month...which is why many work a secondary/primary job for a steady income.

$100k seems like A LOT for the avg model though but hey what do I know?!

She probably makes $50k at most unless she has secured a decent length contract with a semi big firm.

My wife was a model for several years. The pay is different from job to job. Her fashion ads she was in paid around $150 an hour. She did do a Verizon ad once that paid like 2k for a days worth of work.

Modeling is really lowpay (almost a scam) unless your lucky enough to hit the bigtime and sign a longterm contract with a major agency. When younger my wife modeled for Victoria's Secrets catalog for several years, and also did Department store catalogs Dillards, Macy's, Sears, etc.. and runway shows at Market Hall and the WTC
And even at that level I was shocked when I found out how little she made
