I have some very small, yet annoying chips in my windshield (Toyota RAV4) and want to get rid of them... how much will it cost me?

It's about $30 to repair if it's smaller than a quarter and not directly in the drivers line of sight. Otherwise, it's a couple hundred for a new windshield.

I just had my entire windshield replaced for a hairline crack and it only cost me $70. Of course AAA covered some of it.

Do you have AAA insurance, or just Roadside assitance? Cause my Saturn's windshield costs like $500 to replace, cause it's "special". Pfft. But my mechanic said it was the most expensive one he's ever seen. And stupid RI doesn't have a windshiled insurance clause, so I had to pay the whole thing myself. Feh.

Lucky you don't own a Subaru Forester S. Lot of people have had windshield cracks and chips because of the upright position of the glass. The heated windshield can cost in the range of 1000 bucks. My windshield (Forester L, non-heated) has a coupla chips in it, but its not really a bother and it hasn't spread so I'm not too worried about it.

Check with your insurance company to see if they will pay for it. Mine will waive the deductible and pay the whole cost on glass chip repairs.

I've got AAA insurance. Plus I drive a '94 Celica so it's not a very unique windshield.

Yo,
Note that if the chip is in an area roughly 10" x 10" directly in front of the driver's line of sight, 99% of glass repair shops will not fix it. This is due to inumerable lawsuits that have occurred where drivers got in accidents later and blamed the glass repair shops, stating that the repair work left a mark on the windshield which distracted them while driving.

If this is the case, the glass repair shops will tell you they won't work on the chip and tell you to replace the windshield.
