Is there any other famous male pornstar besides Ron Jeremy? The only famous female pornstar I know are Jenna Jameson and Asia Carrera.

EDIT: Also Nikki Cox or something like that. :confused:

I've always wondered how one becomes a porn star. Looks don't seem to have a whole lot to do with it since there's plenty of pot-bellied, hairy body, ugly guys showing up in porn films. Is there someplace they go to apply for the job?

Not that I'm interested, BTW. I've just always wondered about this.

Speaking of looking old, Jenna Jameson came to town here last month for Hustler. She looks like hell now, very disgusting and not like her videos.......

These stats are coming straight from Ron Jeremy's mouth.

For ladies, you can add an extra 0 to the end of that figure. Female stars earn between $100-$250k per year.

On Thursday, July 10 the Canadian newspaper The Toronto Star had Peter North
offer up 10 tips to getting into porn. Here's the article in its entirety

film business.

Among the calls about Peter A. Black and the Sheppard Ave. porn 'recruiter'
were a few that asked:
Okay, if that's not how to become a pornstar, what is?

Career counselling is part of a newspaper's job, so I track down Peter North
in L.A.

Peter North, Halifax-born, is Canada's biggest porn star. That is not his
real name. By now you have spotted its subtle humour. He is no relation to
Peter A. Black, who has taken MQIS Inc. to court, claiming it didn't deliver
on promises of porno fame and fortune.

Anyway, Peter North answers that phone at his office. His assistant is
buying real estate in Vegas. He has just shipped the latest in his North
Pole series. Northpole 41. "Or is it 42?" he says.

What's the plot?

"There isn't one really. It's different scenarios and it's not like it's a
long time before you get into the sex."

Peter North has been getting "into the sex" on camera for 20 years. Someone
spotted him modelling athletic wear. He had a bit part in the 1984 classic
Stiff Competition, with the likes of Ron Jeremy and John Leslie. Now, he
also produces and has a slick Website, peternorth.com. It has tidbits like
favourite food (Italian), hobbies (hockey), sign (Taurus), favourite movie
(Meet The Parents). It has lots of other things, too. So please, please do
not go there if you are faint of heart or a nun. The Deep Throat This! film
series might not be your cup of tea.

I explain the MQIS story. I ask for tips that I can pass along to Peter A.
Black and my other callers about becoming a porn star.

Here goes.

1. Ride the coat-tails of a babe. THE rule. Sorry, fellas, porndom mostly
wants women. "We're just props," says North. But when your girlfriend sends
in her photos, try to be the schmuck in the background. If you must go
knocking on porn's door, "the key that opens the door is to bring a
hot-looking woman with you," says North.

2. Get buff. "You can't go in looking like Ron (Hedgehog) Jeremy these
days," says North, "though I love Ronny." Jeremy came onto the scene when
porn stars looked a titch seedy. Humour and forays into mainstream films,
and or two other attributes, keep Hedgehog in the game. But don't bank on it
working for you.

3. Be reliable. Of course, this applies to all jobs. But it has a different
meaning in the porn biz. "You see a lot of the same guys in movies because
they've proven they can perform all the time and the companies trust that."
A new-comer who freezes up wastes time and money.

4. So practise. Find a friend and get out the videocam. "But, remember, a
home video with someone you know is one thing. Doing it with someone you
don't know very well, in front of other people, with lights glaring, is
another."

5. Wave the maple leaf proudly. "There's a Canadian invasion going on right
now," says North. Guys like Eric Everhard and Brandon Irons have hit
Hollywood in the footsteps of Lorne Green, Jim Carrey, Mike Meyers and John
Candy. Peter North has a theory about that, but I'm too shy to tell you what
it is.

6. Learn other skills, like driving a Zamboni. North plans a scene where a
young lady rink worker tries to kick him off the ice because she's about to
flood it.

7. Don't let size stop you. "No, really. There are guys working down here
who are actually smaller than average. Remember, it's all about reliability.

8. Enjoy your work. This seems self-evident. But North says that its
important that your enjoyment shines through on screen.

9. Diversify. North, who drives a Land Cruiser and a 640-hp Fast-and-Furious
jalopy and is shopping for a house in the million dollar range, is planning
to open a car wash.

10. Don't spend money to be a pornstar. (Peter A. Black et al had to pay
nearly 3,000 to be in a quickie flick). They're supposed to pay you: North
figures $300 to $1,000 a scene for a top guy and $800 tp $1,500, easy, for
women.

So there you go, fellas. Say hello to Hollywood. Glad I could help.

You should watch Porn Star: The Legend of Ron Jeremy. It was recently realeased on DVD. It's a sad but funny portrayal of a guy who wanted to be a movie star (and is still trying to be in legit movies) but can't break out of the porn world mold. (It's still tough for me to have sympathy for a multi-millionaire who gets to sleep with any girl he wants in real life and in porn movies.)

1,000,000 / 1,000 = only 1000 scenes. Assuming he does 2 per a day, he can easily get that in less than 2 years.
