delivery charge? wtf? that's the tip right there. nothing additional.

Yes!

Well, you should know that the delivory guy doesn't get a dime of that, so it's like you "stiffed" him.

Then he needs to find a different delivery place to work at.

Agreed. My place doesn't have a delivery charge (just a $10 minimum outside the shopping complex) and I still manged to make $180 yesterday. And the best parts were 1) I still get a paycheck on top of that, and 2) I was able to drive the boss' Suburban for deliveries all night long and not have to pay for gas 🙂

The delivery guy should take that up with his place of employment. Should the consumer really be responsible to pay extra charges on something that is probably 90% profit from the beginning?

I would give a $20

Delivery drivers should get the rest of the change of a $20.00, or a couple of bucks. More if they bring all the acoutrements without having to ask for them or if they are uber speedy delivery.

If you want free service, go to the resturant and pick it up yourself. This is The USA where service is PAID FOR.
You'll get it as you grow up. Plus getting a reputation as a "stiff" insures you will have something "special" as an added ingredient at some point.
Furthermore, the IRS allows employers of resturant help to factor in tips as a component of the wage paid, in order to reduce overhead to the owner. When you don't tip, YOU are screwing the server out of their estimated daily wage. Either vote to change the rules, or play by them. We are all in this together.

The issue here isn't that the service isn't being paid for, it's that it's being paid for TWICE and received ONCE.

20 would be the customary amount for about 17 dollars. Being cheap is a real disservice to those who take a job that relies on tips. I hate people like that.

I count delivery charge as part of the tip when the place is a minute or two away. The deliverer should be getting that delivery charge and if not and he is not happy he should find another place of employment. Additionally, I would not order from that same place again if this was the case.

I doubt if Pizza Hut is passing the delivery charge fee onto the driver. The driver might get a percentage of that amount, but not the whole amount.

Like the many other "tip" threads that have been created here on ATOT, keep in mind that you don't want to piss off the delivery driver. What you think might be garlic on your pizza, just could be a hawker.

Drivers get the delivery charge, at least in my experience.

Not always. Sometimes they get a % of it. You can ask when you call or ask for the main office and ask them how it works.
