How much $$$ do Google ads generate?

I'm curious as well. I used to use other banner advertisers, and the rate varied based on clickthrough, but that rarely got me more than $20-30 a month on my camera and aquarium sites way back when.

Google's AdSense contract prohibits website owners from revealing the exact click through payment rates. They greatly vary from ad to ad depending on how much each advertiser is willing to pay. I can cover about half the hosting cost of my site through the AdSense text ads which I place on about 50% of the pages. Based on a few months data it appears that if your pages target a niche audience then the ad rates are higher than for general interest pages.
 
I've been reading up on adsense and it seems like a good way to make to some side money if you know what you're doing. The die-hard professionals are making up to and over a grand a day.
