Definitely 1.4 lbs for the bananas. A 2.67oz banana, well, you'd be well into plantain territory then. 7.47oz is more reasonable.
Oranges: 5.3oz for an orange seems light. Maybe a clementine. 10.6oz is more reasonable.

Yup, anything like that has to be certified to be legal for trade. If you're trying to estimate the weight of some produce, it doesn't have to be accurate. But if you're paying money for something by weight, it had damn well better be perfectly accurate, hence the government regulations.Originally posted by: voodoochylde
AFAIR, the scales you see hanging in the produce department are non-calibrated. The scales at the checkout, however, absolutely have to be calibrated in accord with your states regulations laid out by their department of weights and measures.
Seems like we usually had a dude in every 3 months or so checking out our checkout scales at Kroger...
