you wrote his screen name out? How formal! 😛

~230 people - $28k ... made back $18k. Hawaii afterward was "only" $6k. 😉

People say spending so much on a 1-time event is such a waste but looking back, I would rather have spent that on that day with everyone around than spend it on a new car.

We paid for Hawaii and our families paid for the reception. We have no debt from it, either. 🙂

I'd say somewhere around the $25k mark.

We used a Wedding Planner who got us some great deals and bonuses or I'm sure it would have been even higher. Well worth her fee as she saved us far more than that.

truthfully, it was actually more than that.... 😱 about 20k for Hawaii and about 20K for our reception in Michigan.

I would not change anything BUT.... i would have had chair covers and a harpist. ahh, such is life.
it was an amazing summer

Mine was around $10K ... 100 people ... too much if you ask me, but then again, I wasn't even remotely in charge 😉 Our parents split the costs into thirds with us, so the damage wasn't too bad ... and 3 days after the wedding we flew to Australia for a year 😀

my answer: wayyyyy too much

Oh come on now... you didn't think it was worth it? 😛

$1200. Including food, flowers, music, hall, everything.

Sheesh, people, it's one bloody day. Save a few bucks for the rest of the marriage.

Around $5000 for everything.

We eloped to a Sandals resort and got married on the resort. That was about $3,000 and included all of the pics on CD for reprint. Rings were another $1000. My suit and her dress were $300 for two. Then there was about another $500-$700 in misc expenses for two very informal receptions with family and friends at our homes.

If either of us had to do it again, we'd never think of doing it any other way.

honestly... well, what kind of fool would say something negative about his / her wedding day? 🙂

my view is that we would have the same great memories no matter what the cost. nothing wrong with a big traditional wedding... i just feel that it is too easy to go overboard. well... i KNOW it's too easy 😉

Not including the Ring (out of my pocket) or the Rehearsal Dinner (my parents paid), my father in law gave us $8K to do whatever we wanted. Woulda eloped to keep the cash but my wife really wanted the traditional wedding and in the long run what is an extra $8K over your lifetime? not even half of a new car (tho we had no debt and a I had a decent job, otherwise it would have been different)

We had over 180 people and it cost around $5.5K total. Most of the cost was for food but still only $20/person including the use of the Grand Ball room (double buffet lines with three kinds of meat).

Some people go absolutely crazy on their wedding. When we visited the reception hall, the family that night had spent over $10K on live flowers, we went plastic which we now use to decorate our home (for about $300). You can still have a nice large traditional wedding for under $10K, yet I believe the average wedding is up to $25K nowadays, no wonder the industry is doing so well.

You can waste a tons of money on everything. It seems no matter how expensive something is, you can always spend more on it. We decided to go with non-conventional flowers that are still pretty and that cut our costs down, we're having our wedding in a beautiful mansion that's similar to the white house.....so we're going to let the house itself stand out and do less flowers. We're doing cake, punch, and a light snack for food and it's still $1400 for 100 people. Total for the wedding will be around $5,000.

Infact the last weding I went to they made around a $10,000 profit.

Saying 3 times isn't going to make anyone care any more about what you have to say.

If you want to soften te blow of the cost. Place small red envelopes inside the invitation. This sends a clear message.

Yeah, a clear message that you're a classless asshole.

You haven't realized this from his past posts?

My wedding+reception cost around $20,000. Honeymoon was < $2k.

Edit: her father paid for the wedding, we paid for the honeymoon.

We kept it really basic and it cost about $3,000. Had about 200 people (mostly our families; Italian families are second only to Hispanics).
The hall was free (her Uncle owned it)
Photography was free (my Uncle owned it)
Limo was free (her Cousin owned it)
Bridesmaids' gowns/my guys' tuxes were free (friend of the family owned it)
The only thing I can recall we paid for was the catering/bar, some flowers/decorations, and her dress.

Cliffs: Pays to have a lot of relatives and keep in touch with them all.
