OK, I'll set up a poll. If you have more than one pair, vote for the more costly pair. Also post your headphones as a message along with cost.

ME:
Grado SR-60 ($70)
Sennheiser HD280 Pro ($85)

I like both, but prefer the Senns. They each suit their purpose. I actually do things backwards though. The SR-60s are for home and open air so I can hear my wife and future baby. I use hte Senns at work as they are sealed and help drown out hte noise of computers and people talking. I can still hear the telephone ring, so that's good enough.

Both sound great and do not require a headphone amp as the impedence is low enough that no dedicated amp is required.

An important note. DO NOT BUY Senns at Best Buy! mine cost $85 online at a reputable dealer. Best Buy wanted $199.99. I read that this pricing practice is common for Best Buy.

Sennheiser HD570s - about $80 on ebay last year. You can buy them new for that now. I love them, super comfortable, no amp required, and awesome sound.

Had the Sennheiser 570's, but they were TRASH for bass so I moved up to the best JVC has to offer.
HA-DX3 $200. They got a 5star review at the site below.

Here's a decent site that has Headphone reviews.

The only pair of headphones that I currently have are my Shure E2Cs. I paid about $100 for them.

I have a pair of AKG K-141 Monitors that ran about (I think) $80-90. Don't remember exactly, though; it's been a couple years since I got them.

Sennheiser HD580 a number of years ago for $199. I have an amp for them as well. The listening experience is just pure bliss. :)

Shure E1's and E2's in-ear monitors. $120 each -- I got them from my brother for free. :)

My next set will probably be a set of molded Westones in-ears, but they run $500 .. so it'll be a while.

Ditto with my Senns. Opinion, not purchased at EBay I mean. I am very impressed with Sennheiser. I almost want to upgrade to a "sick" setup but my next home comes first.

i have a pair of grado sr60s that i paid 70 and change for. i just ordered new earpads (the open ones like on the higher models). i can't hear my wife or my newborn or my 2 year old but that might be because i crank the volume up to drown them out. i'd like to get a headphone amp but i don't think it's really needed. but i'd like to see if it made a difference anyway. i use them to listen to music and play games and they excel at both.

oh i have one complaint. once in a blue moon i hear a little crackling in the left ear when playing games. i'm not sure but i think it's the source and not the phones as i've never heard it while playing music nor have i heard it when using them elsewhere (mp3 player, home stereo). i did the earpad mod (cut a little hole in the center) and i haven't heard it since, but somehow i doubt one is related to the other. however i did a shoddy job cutting and therefore i ordered these to replace the ones i have now.

Target sells a great headphone for $20.

They are made by GE and they have bass shock built in and run off 2 AAA. I know I know $20 headphones right well they actually sound outstanding and when you pump up the bass boost it rattles your head as well. Even has a 15 foot cord and volume controll. Not the tiny set either had padded head strap and ear pieces. Well worth the $20 IMO
