I'm finishing up my purchases for my new audio system, and it's getting to be quite expensive.

So far:
Infinity Kappa 5002i 5 1/4" coaxials - $40
2 12" Polk MOMO subs - $240
MTX Thunder 801D 800w RMS class D mono amp - $190
Profile AP740 4-channel amp - $100
New faceplate for Alpine CDA-7840 head unit that was in the car that I bought - about $30 off eBay
4 gauge wiring - $30
Pioneer TS-A6945s that I pulled from my old car were about $40 when I bought them

How much did your total car audio system cost? Share specs if you care to.

$250 for the CD player
$60 (I think) for the rear speakers
$50 for the front speakers (even though I'm in a different car now and only the rears are the same size as they were in my previous car....)

Panasonic CQ-C9800U Receiver ($300)
Focal Polyglass 165CV 6.5" coax speakers ($225)
XTC 6.5" foam baffles ($8)
Metra 44UA20 high gain under-hood antenna ($30)

Mediocre sounding, but it's light. :D

IS300 stock.

I spend more money on my home mid-fi stereo and headphone system. Spent close to $8K last year on all the upgrades. Yeah, I know it's chump change, but I can hear and feel the difference, so I'm satisfied.

$160 - Stryke Audio AV12 (I think it uses the same driver as the Eclipse aluminums)
$250 - PPI A600.2 - I bought this from a friend for a lot cheaper but this is how much it typically goes for on ebay.
$40 - 4 gauge Rockford fosgate wiring to amp (I wanted that clear covering they have)
$60 - misc wiring, LLC, relay, a couple platinum fosgate distribution blocks
$100 - cost for materials for fitted fiberglass box (not counting the many hours it took), it was seriously overbuilt

I still need to build a false floor to house the amp, carpeting and materials to cover it, and would like to upgrade my deck to a 7" lcd with nav but haven't found one yet that I like. my oem radio is ~ 2.5 din. but the nakamichi is fine for now.

Pioneer mid-high end HU from late 99 = $200 new
Pioneer 2-way 6.5" = $40
Pioneer 2-way 6x9 = $45
Pioneer 10" 150w nominal sub = $60 (think)
sealed box meeting the reccomended cu ft for the sub $40
Sony xPlode (hush.) 150w steady RMS into 1 bridged channel for sub = $80
Scosche wiring $40
total = $505

Having tunes in the Accord when there was none when I bought it = priceless.

Doors and rear fill runs from HU power. Sub is amped byt he xPlode, and the steady RMS of the amp meets the sub's nominal rating perfect, and it sounds GREAT. I plan on using my older amp (Sony xPlode also, hush, they were cheap.) to power my doors, it's 35w RMS into 2 channels for 70w RMS total. Going with more Scosche wiring for that, too =)

I paid $300 for my Alpine CHA-S637 6 Disc Mp3 CD Changer. Everything else is stock, I'm waiting until I have some money to do the rest of my system. Hoping to get some MB Quartz 6 3/4" Component speakers in the front, MB Quartz 6x9 Component speakers in the rear. If I have the money I want to get the Pioneer Avic N1 DVD/Nav Kit for the HU. As for the subs and amps I am undecided.

I have a Sony AM/FM/CD player in my truck with the stock 4 speakers from the factory.
I think it's rated at 25 watts a channel. It is loud enough to get "disapproving looks" from old people(older than me anyway :p).

I'd like to add a subwoofer assembly but I have so many other expensive hobbies... like my dang gf.

$349- Kenwood Excelon KDC-X789
$200- Kicker RS6c 6.5" Comps
$200- JBL bp600.1 Mono Amp 600w rms @ 2 ohms
$140- JBL p180.2 2-channel Amp 180wx2 rms @ 2 ohms
$170- US Acoustics USB2150 2-channel Amp 150wx2 rms @ 4 ohms(225w @ 2 ohms)
$130- Profile CL640 4-channel Amp This is a kick-@ss 4 channel amp consider how cheap it was.
$100- RE 12" dvc RE series in a generic Wal-mart enclosure

You might be wondering why in the hell do I have 4 AMPs but the system is not complete so I'm messing around to see whaich one I'm keeping.
I have the Kicker comps up front. Just a 12" sub in the trunk but I use 2 home 8" bookshelf speakers that I place on the floor right behind the front seats.
Pretty ghetto but the sound is pretty good and its loud.
In the process of looking for some permanent subs.....maybe 2-10" or 2-12".

Of course I some of the stuff I bought used so the price are cheaper than what I listed.

Stock blose system in both maximas. The quality isn't so bad, especially in the 00 max (which comes with a small sub), but the 97's CD player is jittery, and one of the speakers is semi-blown, and since it's blowz I can't easily replace them (that really is so dumb about blose). Chances of me convincing mrsskoorb that I need $500 to overhaul it are slim, so I put up with it :)

$250 Alpine head unit
$200 for 2 used Orion amps (45watt/ch. & 90watt/ch.)
$200 for 2 sets MB Quart component speakers (5 1/4 & 6 1/2 both mounted up front)

Not bad, huh? $650 for $1450 worth of equipment.
