$50? 1k? 5k? 10k? 30k?

Fancy ice sculpture? Releasing white doves when you kiss the bride?
Elvis impersonator priest? No family fights?

basic low budget, i don't really know what it cost, it cost me about $500 for my tux and my best man's tux and few things

i would guess between both sets of parents about $3000, for sure under $5000

Ours is so far looking to be around $9000...though it's more than we hoped to spend, it's still within the budget range we set. One of the coolest things will be the venue (Denver Botanic Gardens). The other cool thing is we're doing things the way we want, from the mixed wedding parties, to using our own mp3 player on the included sound system instead of a DJ, to not doing any of the junk we don't like in weddings (flower toss, dollar dances, etc...) It's going to be a blast. It'll be like $3000 out of our own pockets after the parents help out (for which I'll forever be grateful).

$25k or so which is about average these days. We got married in 2001.

Wife planned the whole thing and it as amazing. That was with 200+ guests, sit down dinner, etc.

Best part was that everyone had a blast!

The coolest thing about it was the fact that we did it how WE wanted it and everyone enjoyed themselves totally. We made sure everything was taken care of for our guests from providing them with welcome bags filled with local gifts, things they might have forgotten (like sunblock, hand sanitizer and after sun lotion) to candies and after-party remedies like tums and advil.

We also made personalized booklets for everyone giving them a scheduled time line of the rehearsal dinner, after wedding events, etc as well as things to do, places not to be missed on the island, best restaurants, etc.

It was also great because it was so intimate. And eventhough there were some "issues" the day of the wedding, so many people helped and cared about our party, it worked out better than we could have ever imagined.

$50 tip to the JOP, $10 bottle of sparkling grape juice, $25 license, $200 rings.

Best part - it was on our back deck with just our kids attending on a beautiful fall day.

About $6500 all told, with a subsidized bar ($2 drinks). Fairly intimate setting, about 75 guests.

About 3k. We eloped to a Sandals resort and got married "for free" on the island.

There was a lot that was cool about it- two things stick out in my mind though. They told my wife to walk around the resort and pick out the flowers that she wanted in her hair and in in boquet. They then just cut them fresh right there from the resort and made it up for her. That was cool.

Then we went scuba diving later that day. How many people do that after they get married? :)

It's depressing to think about it, but my wedding is going to cost somewhere around $40k. :( My wedding will be in India, something like 400 people are supposed to be there and I have to fly in my family from the states.

I never really understood the point of a big wedding. To me, it's about two people, not everyone else involved; sure, it's great to have your family there, but do you really need to have an elaborate setup? I think it should be something unique between two people. I'd like to go back to where we first vacationed, find a cliff against the Pacific somewhere and get married. Simple.. meaningful... and a heck of a lot cheaper.

About $4,000. Very simple.

JOP married us, then we had a sit down dinner (meat and potatoes type meal), then we drank and danced.

Best part was having the DJ play music we liked, not the frickin Macarena and other BS. NIN, Oasis, Our Lady Peace, KMFDM... it was great.

Did you see the post made by somebody here where they got married on a mountain top in New Zealand? They rented out a helicopter and were flown up there. It was just the bride, groom, priest (or equivalent), and a camera guy. That would truely make for a lifelong memory. My wife and I considered doing something like that but just couldn't really hammer out the logistics.

I'll have to try and dig up that post. It was incredible...all the way down to the black converse sneakers the bride was wearing with her wedding dress :)

Absolutely. I spoke to him about it and got the name of the company, etc. I showed it to the fiance thinking I might have presented a legitimate option (maybe not NZ, but something like that). No dice.

I can't find the thread, but the guy (jhayx7) used this service. Looks like a great time.
