I got a prorated bonus (.5 of the year) and I feel screwed. Also, my raise was less than 1% :(.
Anyone else?

What kind of work do you do? What's your level now?

software development, i'm one level up from the bottom rung now. starting salary at my company is a good 15% lower than it's peers.

i'd still prefer to live in a cheaper city making less. i could halve my salary and still save more in a place like Pittsburgh.

Only ever had a couple positions that offered any form of bonuses, and they were generally things like a $20 starbucks card at Christmas. Seldom received more than a 1-3% raise, and often none at all.

We haven't had our bonus in a while I guess. A good chunk of it is tied to safety, but we're an international company so any fuck ups in Kazakhstan, South Africa, etc affect our numbers company wide. They don't have OSHA and stuff out there so while I understand why I also think it's BS to have part of our bonus out of our control.

Unless you are actually generating money for the company, you should not get any bonuses.

Be it savings or new money flowing into the company (new accounts, sales, etc.).

So what company do you own?

I don't own a company.

I generate savings at my company. Why should someone who doesn't generate savings get a bonus?

Now, if you generate sales and new money, you deserve a bonus as well.

I generally get an exceptional performance bonus every year. It isn't much, but it is nice to have a little extra for toys. I will definitely nominate myself for one this year again.

none this year but i got one around xmas last year. they don't do company wide bonuses here but everyone got a $50 giftcard to target at my company.

but then my boss also came over to me and kinda whispered to me that i had been doing a great job this past year and they like my work and that i would be receiving a 2.5k bonus ... i was pretty happy :)
