I can't remember who Sumner Wells was (a congressman i think), but I used this quote in a paper.

Estimated $50 billion in 1943 alone.

I think the figures above are "Total Cost" which is actually very hard to figure I'd think........

I will have to check that up.. cu'z I remember seeing that on TLC.
4 Billion is close to the cost for the aircraft carrier.

Unit cost: Approximately $1.3 billion
