I have 1 credit card and an $18,000 limit on it. Actually, technically I have a Circuit City Visa card with a $4k limit but I only used it once for a purchase a couple years ago and haven't used it since.

I have about $1k on the other card though.

credit line just got increased to 1200. When I got my CC originally I asked for a $700 line of credit instead of the $1000 they were offering. Funny because 7 months later I asked if I could increase it to $1000 and they said no. Then a couple months after that they automatically increased it to 1200.

All dealers I spoke to would not let you buy a car on the card itself... I think it's because they don't want to get hit with fees.
I requested balance transfer checks and wrote a check for cash and used that cash to buy the car with.

The dealers will place a limit on how much you can put on your card.. mine was $2500

Combined approx equal to my annual salary. This is a recipe for financial disaster for the not financially responsible among us. Few hundred credit occupied, usually paid off each month.
