How much computer are you running on 350 watts or less?

I'd like to see just how much a typical 350 watt unit will run, and whether it's really enough for a typical user.

List your PSU, its wattage rating, and all the stuff it's running, including CPU overclocks, if applicable. (Naturally, the system should be stable at any level of utilization for you to list it.)

I'll start:

PSU: Fortron FSP350-60PN, 350 watts.

Running: Asus P4P800-Deluxe,
128MB Radeon 9800 Pro w/VGA Silencer,
P4 "C" 3.0 GHz, sometimes clocked at 3.3 GHz for fun,
1024MB Mushkin Level One RAM,
two case fans (was 4 before my airflow/silencing mods),
up to 3 optical drives running at one time (when actively working on my CD to MP3 archiving project),
always 2 (sometimes 3 or 4) 7200 RPM hard drives,
electronic KVM switch,
and optical mouse.

The more replies added, the more useful this thread will be for everybody.

Not in the least! What are you running in there?

Nor do I, which is why I made this thread; the point is to see what 350 watts or less can really run. At this point, I have a theory that the trend toward 500+ watt is somewhat ridiculous. I want to see if I'm right, so if you're anything like me, come out of the woodwork and post your system.

I have three PC's, all under 350W...
  • P4-3.6ghz Prescott, Radeon 9800XT, 1gb PC3200, DVD, DVD-RW, etc... 300W
  • P4-3.6ghz Prescott, Radeon 9800 PRO, 512mb PC3500, DVD, etc... 250W
  • P4-3.2ghz Northwood, Radeon 9700 PRO, 1gb PC3200, DVD, etc... 300W
High wattage PSU's are the most overrated suggestions on this msg board. Quality is infinitely more important.

That very thread was my inspiration for this one. However, that thread is quite old, and unlike here, where AT'ers place a high priority on high performance, most of the SPCR guys intentionally avoid high heat/power-consumption CPUs and videocards in the name of cool and quiet operation. This, on the other hand, is a great example of what you might find AT'ers running:

  • So, keep 'em coming, especially if you're running Prescott P4s, dual CPUs, a lot of hard drives, or the latest-generation video cards. Let's push to the limits!

System #1
Running on 350 Watt Power Up PSU:

1 Athlon 64 2800+
1 Radeon 9800 Pro
2x512 Mushkin Pc3200
1 40GB HDD
1 LiteOn DVD Burner
1 Nec DVD Rom
1 WinTV card
5 case fans
3 cold cathodes

System #2
Running on a 350 Watt generic PSU

1 Athlon 2000+
1 GeForce4MX Graphics card
1 x 256 Kingston PC2700
1 x 512 PNY Pc2700
1 40 GB Hard Drive
1 Toshiba DVD Rom
2 Case Fans
1 Cold Cathode

Never had any problems with either one of the power supplies, feeling the exhaust from the back of the power supply is usually pretty cool air.
