I have a migraine at work and have taken a few in the last 4 hours. I just want to make sure I am still in the safety zone.

LD50 for codeine is 800mg in a average non-tolerant person.

At doses greater than 250mg adverse effects tend to arise, including intense itching, flushed skin, dizziness, sedation, nausea and vomiting.

99% of any codeine preparation you will find is going to have tylenol in it such to an extent that you should worry about that first.

I have taken 4 Tylenol's with 25mg Codeine at 9am
1 at 10pm
3 more at noon.

Only now is the headache even starting to recede though if I move my head in any direction more than super slow it throbs again. or If I stare at a computer screen too long.

Maybe you should sleep more instead of popping codeine. Didn't you start that thread the other day?

And who takes codeine for a headache anyways?

Where do you live with codeine preparations of 25mg?

Regardless, look at how much acetaminophen is in each pill. Do no exceed 4 grams a day, and do not make a habit of reaching that much.

Opiates are the best for headaches. :D

Works a hell of a lot better than that liver toxin they call Tylenol.

I am at 2.4 grams of that, 300mg of Caffiene and 200mg of Codein.

So on all accounts I am under the limits. :)

You should, I don't know, ask the person who prescribed it for you, aka the doctor?

It is...I don't know..Sunday.. :p

Your doctor should have said something when he gave them to you...

AND the prescription isntructions are printed on the box. AND if it is over the counter med, the daily dosages are printed on the box. If somebody is slow here it's not you.

I do. I take tylenol 1's (300mg tylenol, 15mg caffeine, 8mg codeine) for headaches all the time. I find 3 of them work way better than 4-6 tylenol extra strength.

I feel for ya man...I get nasty migraines myself, but I find acetamenophen (sp?) does ZERO for mine. I have better luck with about 800mg of ibuprofen....

They prescribed me some heavy duty stuff called Maxalt, which is in the same family as medications like Zomig and Immitrex, but the fact they do stuff to blood vessels in the brain that they don't quite know how it does, and the fact the side effects listed are worse than the cure...I just take a bunch of advil and crash. Correction, I try to crash, and wait until the pain and nausea go away enough to allow me to sleep...

Hey, I know..how about you STFU? You obviously don't understand the difference between a "headache" and a "migraine"...

Yeah, only real problem was I was at work and couldn't fall asleep. I can't wait to get home to a dark room with air conditioning and just lay back.
