Well, that's not really true. I just wanted to beat Alkemyst to the punch. 😉

heh

I had about $15k at one time on me (something around that) to buy a home theatre and some other stuff due to a 'cash discount' that was pretty substantial. The one guy would have taken a check I found out later, but that was fine with him. The ladies in the office wanted to hold it once the idiot I went to the bank with during lunch told everyone I had that amount of cash on me

I also took $40k and had it put into a cashier's check for a down payment on a house I bought. I didn't fully carry it more than having it counted out and then taken to 'buy' the check.

I had a check for 100,000,000 in my hands just yesterday...

my autistic 10yo brother wrote it out to himself, said it was because he won the loto... how should i know, i probably just ignored him one day when he gave me winning numbers...

otherwise

16k for a computer deal.

I've had maybe 12-13k of someone else's money for a short time.

I've won ~ 6k playing blackjack. My bankroll was 200 bucks. Got really hot. It's not actually very nice to carry that much money out of the casino because of the paranoia. Plus, money is really dirty. You don't what moron has stuff those bills down their sock ... or worse. I requested an envelope. Got home and put it on the table. Counted it. Very nice. Went to the bank the next day ... they don't flinch an inch. They've seen this all before.

Washed my hands. (Damn those bills are dirty. Casino chips too. Tip: don't ever rub your eye accidently while being in a casino.

Somewhere in the vicinity of $15k, twice. Although, each time, it was in multiple currencies.

First time - moving from US to Australia, had US and Australian dollars, and a few Malaysian Ringits (only stayed a day), the wife alsop had Sri Lankan Rupees, as she was going to visit her mother while I found us a place to live in Australia.

Second time - a little of a year ago when we moved to Canada, we had Australian, Canadian, and US dollars, also had Korean Won for the 4 days we were there.

Thank goodness I won't be moving internatinally again!

I held something like 15 pounds of pot once. It was bricked and stacked. It was about 4 feet tall, I felt like i was carrying a load of towels, folded and fresh out the dryer.

Anyways, I'm no longer mixed up in that stuff.
How much would that be in cash though, assuming it was all sold?

$72,000

A few grand (GBP) at work, some nights I have to help a dyslexic colleague close the tills down so I get to count the money from five tills. This in addition to repairing PCs... 😛

A drug dealer I knew had 25k nicely bundled and let me hold it for a few seconds! It was a large bundle all 10s and 20s...

I hold about 2k to 5k on a weekly basis in cash...

Around $500,000. I count the vault at work (bank). Actually, the most I've ever actually held in my hands (without a bag) is only around $200,000 (4 bundles of 100-dollar bills strapped in 5-packs). Cash is bulky.

For my own cash: maybe $400.

In regards to Currency Transaction Reporting (CTR's): the actual reportable amount is anything $10,000.01 and over. CTR's are reported to the IRS. However, as stated previously, structuring transactions to fall under that amount is illegal and reportable.

Banks also have to keep a Monetary Instrument Log (MIL) which contains similar information if you purchase a negotiable instrument (e.g. Cashier's check, travelers check) in cash for $3,000.00. These aren't necessarily reported to anybody, but they're available if the IRS comes knocking.

Banks are also required to report any other suspicious transactions by filing Suspicious Activity Reports (SAR's). I'm not sure what agency these get sent to.

I was at a friend's place tonight and we were bored so he begins to show us the 42 guns his dad owns and all the stuff in the room. When we get to the little safe, he opens it and looks in a pocket and finds around $40k in 3 stacks of 100$ ($10k each) and two stacks of $50 (each $5k). It's no big deal for him because he works for his dad who owns a business and during the busy season, he (my friend) has carried $250k cash in his pockets. The minute I saw the money, I immediatly thought about this thread, so I told him I wanted to hold it in my hands! My other friend said he wanted to have it too, and he placed everything in his pockets to be able to say he's had $40k in his pockets 😛 Then he threw me the stacks accross the room, and I placed them in a pocket too. Ahhhhhhh, my 10 seconds of fame... I wish I had my camera with me.

$800. I was buying a car.

I've been in the money room of a casino where there was literally millions and millions of dollars.
