How much better are the Logitech 640's?

Right now I have an old pair of Altec Lansing ACS 45.1's. Is there a significant difference in sound quality and loudness in the new Logitech 640's?

They sound fantastic! Just hooked mine up a few dayz ago... For $40 - they are a steel!
