how much bandwidth should yr wifi connection put out?

I realize that 11mbps is only theoretical maximum, but wouldn'y tou expect to get at least 2/3 of that number in real life..?

I thought it was taking too long to move large files off my desktop to my new notebook so i downloaded a free throughput measuring program... i only seem to get about 320-360kB/sec sustained... that seems slow.. is it ???

Divide by two for half-duplex medium. 5.5

Divide by two for encryption overhead. 2.75

Shave off TCP overhead, interference, retransmits, etc. - 2.4

Divide by eight (bits -> bytes) = 300k a second.

i buy your point, but I dont use encryption... so you're saying I should be getting about twice that number ...?
