since we talking about internet, I still have my original 5yr old white Motorola CyberSurfr cable modem. It's old as dirt. IIRC Tampa Bay for the third rollout for high speed cable modems, i've been online ever since.

I got on broadband the summer of 98 but the original Comm 1 modem died two years ago.

I got curious, cuz I thought maybe it has been longer. I found my original work order for Road Runner, 5/1/98. So it's been longer than I thought. And Im still using my original Motorola CyberSurfr

Boy does time fly by. Did you have to shell out $200 for the modem like I did.

$29.95 for optimumonline, but i use the triple play (phone / cable TV) which cost another $29.95 each plus tax.

I think it's $29/mo for cable for a year
I think it goes up to $45 or $49 after that....which is when I will explore other avenues

$24.99 per month. Started in December and continues for 12 months. Been a loyal customer for years paying full price. I called and said I was going to switch to DSL simply because of price and they said that because I've been a loyal customer paying full price for years, they'd give me $25/mo for 12 months.

Nice customer relations. What service?

I think our 4M/512K Comcast in our area is somewhere in the neighborhood of $60 a month without cable TV. I don't pay it. We'd have gotten something cheaper if it were available where we are (my small outlying town has a different phone provider (Verizon) from the rest of the Fresno area (SBC), and Verizon hasn't bothered to get its DSL out here).
