How much are average house prices where you live?

OP, what are the size of the houses in your area? 800k average price is insane unless they are mansion type houses.

About 150k, but it's artificial...that's 30k higher than 5 years ago. We expect prices to stabilize around 135k soon.

$646,900 is the average for SFH in my area (defined as non-condo, non-townhouse). But we're right near the metro in Arlington, VA, so when you factor in the huge number of condos and THs, it's $437,300. Those are for my neighborhood.

Factoring in the entire county, its $520,700 for all homes, $654,100 for SFH only.

We got very lucky when we bought, managed to time the market right at the bottom and actually find a place in a desirable neighborhood -- listings were very thin. Our house is near the metro and cost significantly less than those medians. So no, I definitely don't have a 600k house.

It depends, but I would say 500k median and then you get into the rich/hilly areas down the street and you're talking 800k+
