How much Anti-Freeze to put into water cool setup?

I have a Leufken socket water cooler and the instructions said I should a little amount of standard automotive anti-freeze. But how much is enough. What else should I but in it. Right now im testing the system for leaks but i can' wait to put it in.

Is it just water cooling or water cooling with a peltier? If just water cooling, try 15%. You just need it's anti-corrosion properties. If using it with a peliter, go for a 40% anti-freeze solution, so as to prevent freezing with the low temperatures produced by the peltier. You may also want to add Redline Water Wetter. It will aid in the coolant's heat transferring abilities.

Try 1/3 anti-freeze, and 2/3 water.. the Water Wetter is a good idea, but will only get your temp down a degree or 2, You really don't need anti-freeze at all, unless you are cooling your water to below freezing in your reservoir, If not, I would just go with 1 ounce of water wetter in the system, as anti-freeze prohibits cooling ever so slightly.

Im using the anti-freeze to prevent corrosion in the aluminum piping.

Wait, the hot side of the peltier is what is going to be in contact with the water, so antifreeze is not needed except for its anti-corrosive properties.

Prevent corrosion is a big deal. You want that radiator popping a leak and shorting your system or popping a leak and having your system run dry as a bone? Go to keep it healthy!

I am an ASE Master Auto Tech Over 15 years and 1500 vehicles under my belt. The first thing is there are two diff types of antifreeze
1) reg antifreeze ( which is GREEN )
2) dexcool ( which is ORANGE )last longer w/o changing
Both types of antifreeze decreases the freezing and increase the boiling point, also has lube which is for moving parts.

Both work in diff types of metals ;Copper/ stainless/ aluminum

The Mixture is 50/50 Half antifreeze and half water
ex: 1 gal system use 1/2 gal of antifreeze and 1/2 gal of water

Pure antifreeze will not work !

50/50 is the mixture

That is true for a system that needs both cooling and freezing protection. In a water cooling setup, no freezing protection is needed. Only if a peltier is used with a system, then some freezing protection is needed. Therefore, if not using a peltier, you do not need anti-freeze, but for it's protection from corrosion.

If you are not chilling the coolant and you're running all-aluminum or all-copper you don't need antifreeze at all. In that case a little Water Wetter would be the best bet (to improve flow.)

Sorry to interrupt your conversation, but may I ask how good is this water cooling system? I presume it's the Luefkin one? I've never overclocked before, primarily because noise gets to me (and also cause i didn't know how), but I want to now. Is water cooling a solution to the noise problem or are other fans still needed in the case. Thanks

The suggestion to add water wetter is a good one.

I'm reaching way back to the back of the rack here, but I think I remember a discussion on Water Wetter from an old motorcycle magazine. If I remember correctly what makes it attractive is that it cuts down or eliminates the formation of tiny air bubbles in the cooling system. Air bubbles act as an insulator between the cooling liquid and the metal heat exchanging surface, and are considered a bad thing.
