How much a car wash costs you?

I've just washed my car so I was wondering how much do you guys pay for it.
Where I live:

Full program - about 5$
Only external wash - 2$

btw I live in Sofia, Bulgaria🙂

Recently a new (great) carwash opened right by my house, and it offers washing with soap and waxing on the outside. When I do it myself, I generally have to spend about $3 worth of coins for everything.

It also offers an automated touch-free washing -- the best one costs $9. I haven't tried it yet.

While we're in this thread, I've got a question for fellow AnandTechers: I've only used that carwash once; I did everything -- water, soap, wax, more water, etc. After it was done, I left without drying the car. By morning, the car looked worse than previously. It had dried spots on it and looked very bad in general.

Is that because I did not dry it, or because I did not apply water between soap and wax?

My car washes are free.

[*]My parents buy the carwash concentrate for their cars
[*]I use a hose at my house - also free
[*]I wash, dry and sometimes polish/wax
[*]Great sense of satisfaction to boot!

The best things in life are free.

To show you how Ritzi my town is, our only car wash charges 19.95 for "the works". I just had it done two days ago. Took almost 2 hours.

Brushless Car Wash interior & exterior - $11.75 w/o coupon. I normally use the coupon tho', so it's $9.75.

I hardly have time and nice weather to wash it by hand, so I get a wash at every fill-up. It usually costs $7.

Yes, you should have washed the soap off before applying the wax. A good drying is also important. A "quick detailer" may help you recover some.

If you really want a good shine, you won't use an automatic car wash or especially a spray on wax.

Check the autopia-carport site for more information.

Automated - 6 bucks (they scrub the car with soap by hand, then let it go through the automated process)

Manual - 3 bucks. (1 for washing first, 2 for soap, 3 for washing again with or without wax).

A few cents for the gallon of water, a couple cents worth of detergent, and however much the cost per use is for a $5.00 sponge that is probably 10 years old.

Here in AZ, we usually dont have rain for months at a time, so a good car washing can last you a good while! Anyways, our local place is brand new and really nice, they charge $7 for regular interior vaccuming and dusting, along with handwashing and shining the rims, armorall the tires, armorall all the black trim, and of course they just run it thru the automated machine. pretty nice setup.

My dad pays $50 at the same place :Q

Cuz his truck is a lifted dodge ram 3500 and it wont fit thru the machine..so they hand wash it, takes about an hour..

Let's see...

At the carwash place, the Basic Wash is $19..95 (inside & out, everything but wax and underbody)....but it's free when you get your oil changed. So I get one of those every 3 months with my oil change.

I wash my car every Friday, wax it every month. I guess that's free because my grandfather gave me a nice carwash kit for Christmas.

Whenever it gets dirty between washes, I go to the $1 carwash where you spray it with those high-pressure guns.

$50 !?! And I was thinking $19 was a waste of money.

If I don't do it myself for next to nothing, $3-4 and a couple cotton towels go a long way at the self-serv.

I'm cheap!
$1 to wash my wife's Blazer.

I use the spray gun on soap, run around the vehicle twice. Then put it on rinse, run around it once..then finish up with the low pressure spot-free rinse.
And thats called washing on a budget! 😀

Normally I wash it myself, but I've taken it to the place where they wash it by hand before. Starts at $10.95 for just the outside.

Can basically go as high as you want it to, they'll claybar and wax the car for $89.
