Power draw seems to be a big "your mileage may very". You see people with expensive high end power supplies having issues and then you read about people with generic POS dumpster power supplies that can run a city block.

Some people online had me worried about running a 6600GT in a XPC. Now I have seen a mod where they slapped a 7900GTX in one (just recently I also saw a X1900XT as well).

I haven't installed the Radeon 1900XTX yet.
Will this do:
Antec SL450 with 25A on +12va line which is a yr old and uses 20 - 24 pin connector.

Is this ok?

I am buying Antec SP500 soon enough, so better to wait, right?

I wouldn't recommend the AX400 for Crossfire. I had originally intended to use it in my X-Qpack to power my X1800XL, but the crappy Aspire unit powers it just fine.

I was looking for a new unit for my Crossfire rig, didn't like the pricing so I just gave it a go and the AX400 seems to be perfectly stable even with the cards and X2 cpu overclocked. The only issue I've run accross is that I have to sometimes switch the connectors for the vcards with a cold boot (acts like the switching doesn't work the same everytime) so I'm surely close to the limits and probably pushing it, but it's been months now.

It may not be a recommended PSU, but it works.

Sometimes the PSU that people do recommend may not work.

While a X1900XTX crossfire setup can be a real power hog, it can also depend on what the rest of the system is doing. I have ran systems just fine on cheap 300W power supplies even though everyone says such a setup would need at least 400w.

Go with what works. I personally would not buy a new PSU, unless I at least tried the one I had first.
