How many watts per channel does a laptop give its speakers?

It's gotta give something right? Those headphones don't power themselves...Anyone know a general number? I can't find it in the manual...

The headphone amp and the speaker amp are different. That being said they are both most likely really reallly crappy.
 
My Thinkpad puts out a thundering 1 watt per channel. Though I am not sure at what frequency range or %distortion.

Is there an add on to boost the output so I can listen to headphones at an enjoyable level during a plane trip.
