How many watts needed for power supply? (400w enough?)

How many watts is enough to run a dual Opteron with 2 WD 10k SATA drives, 2 IDE drives, 2 DVD drives, floppy, zip drive, and an ATI 9600

Currently have a 400w, but can get another one if that isnt enough

any ideas?

Depends on how good the PSU is. I would recommend reading this thread for a better explanation of the physical difference between a crappy psu and a good one.

Most of the folks at 2Cpu.com would recommend that you get something in the area of 550w for a dual-Opteron setup. Alot of folks seem to use either Antec or Fortron 550w PSU's, as they aren't all that expensive, yet they are well-built. I use the Fortron 550w myself and it's built like a tank, with no power-related instabilities at all.
