We're going to keep the Honda until the wheels fall off. This car amazes me in how well it still runs. My wife got the car when she was 15 and it's seen some abuse, but always maintained. It leaks oil like mad, but doesn't burn any.

My millenia is what I drive to work when it's my week (I carpool).

I recently got the Z71 when gas prices skyrocketed for a good price. I'd love to drive it everyday, but it's only getting around 18MPG.

Zv, man that is one nice ride! Hardly ever see any of those 914's around anymore, not to mention one as clean as yours. How much are those going for now?

Depending on the buyer, a clean 2.0 litre car in the condition that mine is in can fetch between $7,000 and $10,000. Clean 914/6 cars will run in the $15,000+ bracket. Overall, not a whole lot of money for a car that's an absolute blast to drive.

The 1.8 litre cars are the least desireable, but are still solid drivers. For a 1.8 in good driving condition you can find them for $3,500 to $5,000. The looks of the car definitely aren't for everyone, Honestly, it took a while for the looks of mine to grow on me.

When I first bought the car, this is what it looked like. (Forgive the pics, back in 2001 when I bought it, I only had a crappy 640x480 digicam.)

Ok, just one last question Zv, how does it run? Any estimations on 0-60? Not that it really matters.

I like the white BTW.

Well, the 2.0 litre cars had all of 95hp, the others, less. You're looking at a 0-60 time in the 9-10 second range for a 2.0 without CA smog equipment. The 1.7's were very slightly slower, the smogged 2.0 engines slower still, with the 1.8 litre cars bringing up the rear in the 12-13 second range Not fast by any stretch of the imagination. To be fair, even the 911's of the time were running only 7.5-8.5 second 0-60 times, and once up to speed a 914 almost never needs to slow down, you just drive right through a corner and the car's so light and well-behaved that it sticks and goes.

Overall, in the straight line, the 914 is only a tiny bit faster than a 356. It's the corners where the 914 really comes into its own. That, and the fact that you can shove a flat six from a 911 into the 'teener's engine bay and not upset the handling at all. 😉 I haven't gone that route, but it's always fun to think that I could.
