How Many User Names and Passwords do you Have

Several of us at work were discussing how difficult it is to remember all of the user names and passwords we had. We figured we had 10-15 each and then we realized that we had personal ones too. After adding all of the personal and work related ones together some of us had close to 100. We also realized that we use the same ones for multiple purposes.

How many do you have? What are they used for? Please do not go into too much detail (dont want you being hacked) but to say bank, email, amazon, ebay, etc... will be enough to demonstrate that we are bombarded by this.

I have approx 15 at work, bank1, bank2, auto insurance, health insurance, life insurance, credit card1, credit card2, credit card3, brokerage1, brokerage2, brokerage3, amazon, anandtech, ebay, buy, yahoo, google, aim1, aol1, paypal, heatware, ms wallet, mcp site, barnes and noble, newegg, shutterfly, ofoto, snapfish, zdnet (read articles), hosting service for website1, hosting service for website2, ezpass, newsgroup service, broadband router, login for home computer, etc...

Approx how many do you have and what are they for? I know that I am leaving out some basic ones if you can think of any more tell me!

I have 4 user names I use frequently. 2 are unique and the other 2 are variations of Unheard for when it is in use. I have 3 main passwords that I use.

I've lost track of names and passwords. Usually I stick to 3 or 4 passwords. It's hell getting old and forgetful, lol.

I had 2 main passwords for the longest time + 1 bs password. This was easy to crack cuz they were all based on english words (combos of words)

Now I have 2 main passwords all from my CS class because I was too lazy to change my password, and so its now a very secure system because they are all random letters with capitals an dlower cases.

I still occasionally use my old main password like for AT a nd other stuff I don't care as much about, but its still generally secure.

Oh and my BS password is "qwerasdf" today. So if I'm signing up for junk I don't care about, its QWERASDF. Steal my account. Go ahead. I think my Mininova acct has that password, same with my blockbuster

That is what we were realizing that as you think about it more and more start to appear.

So far nobody has mentioned work voice mail, home vocie mail and cell phone voice mail. Also I would need to inlcude home phone company web site and cell phone company web site.

I am sure if I think harder I will come up with tons more

Not many passwords... maybe a dozen at most. Surely there's well over a hundred accounts though divided over all of the forums I go to... the most used ones being HamburgerBoy, HamburgerMan, Marathon, S'pht'Kr, and Jjaro.

probably 6 or 7...most are the same user name and password...I tend to forget them if they are different

I've got like 6 passwords, but they're basically just 2 passwords, 1 is my Email password, and the other is my everything else password. The everything else password is basicaly the same password every time, with little variations (shortening something, adding numbers, reversing the order of some letters)... So sometimes, if I use something it takes me time to guess the password, but I almost always guess it after the 5th try...

I haev a few different user names but I use the same password for almost everything. And if I can pick my own user name, I always choose the same thing. If it's taken I try the next one, etc. I have 3 that 1 of which is usually not taken

Speaking of passwords, I've seen two managers mentioned here - Password Corral, and KeePass.

Is one better than the other? Are there others?
