i probably did it though and just forgot about it there :p

set up an alarm so you don't leave the drive in there for (weeks? months? years?)
idk how long mine has been in there

Your may never finish if the drive is failing. I'm betting you will not get a complete run.

i think the drive was just bad from the factory. either that or this usb2 bridge i've got it plugged into is faulty. i don't think so, though, as i've got another drive plugged into the same model enclosure and there isn't anything wrong with it.

13, btw

no, it kept finding more stuff each run

i'm up to 17, i don't think it can find much more though. figure i'll just format it since it can't do a full surface test. always fails after index verification

BTW, your scans are likely causing more bad sectors. That's why it's finding more each time... Did I mention you will likely never finish? I wasn't hoping that on you, I'm serious. Yes, 3 is enough. The drive is toast. You would have better luck copying what you could from explorer and ditch it. Sorry.

by 'finding stuff' i mean files. it found over a gigabyte of files

anyway, the drive it hosed. formatting failed. i've never seen a format fail.
