Dropped my iPhone3GS on Jan 1st at 12:01 AM as I was pulling it out of my pocket to text some friends a Happy New Year. The phone slipped out of my hand as it was coming out of my pocket and landed screen first on tile floor... Needless to say I have had a Cracked screen iPhone since then.

Whats sad is that its the same price for me to buy a new iPhone 4 ($200 16gig) then to get my screen fixed ($200 from apple last I checked).

Edit: Oh, My iPhone was in a hard plastic case too made by Incase.

holy crap, buy the digitizer on amazon for 14 bucks and pay someone local on craigslist the 20 bucks to replace it! its really not that difficult, ive done a couple too. the 14 dollar one included the tools and new adhesive as well.

I've dropped my pre a couple times. My heart skipped a beat each time since the damn thing seems so fragile to begin with.

I haven't dropped my EVO yet, but will eventually. At some point I will leave it in my lap and get out of my car resulting in a crash on the asphalt. Had it about two months.

I've never dropped my Droid.

It did fall through a mysterious hole in my pants once.

My G1 has slipped off the couch onto the floor or off my lap onto the floor of my car a few times. Thing seems to have a glass jaw because the corner of the case shattered, leaving about a quarter-of-a-dime size hold behind. Lame. At least the other falls its taken hasn't injured it further, in fact, the rest of the case has held up remarkably well. It's funny though, in my life, the more expensive of a phone I've gotten, the clumsier I've gotten with it. My cheapo Nokia 3390? Stayed with me for 2 years and nary a scratch on the case, and it always stayed in my pocket. My G1 gets the same treatment and it's bruised and beaten far beyond any other phone I've had, and I'm still pretty careful with it :|

I've dropped my iPhone more than a half dozen times. I'm incredibly lucky it hasn't cracked, and really is in pretty decent shape.

Dropped my two week old Samsung Captivate while trying to put it into my pocket while walking. The fall was only a couple feet (height of my pocket), yet it cracked the screen big time, enough to bother me enough to get a new one. The cracked phone still works, so I can use it as a back up and experimenting phone for roms/modding/development.

FYI, the Captivate landed on a corner. There is a video on Youtube of a Japanese or Korean guy dropping the galaxy onto the asphalt from various heights, and he got up to maybe 5 feet before it started getting damage. He dropped it flat though, so the screen belly-flopped onto the ground.

/old 8330 curve

im pretty sure the random issues it has are related to BB OS, not the drops

I've had my Vibrant for less than a week and have dropped it once. My myTouch that I had for a year I probably dropped at least 50 times. I never had a case on the myTouch. I just picked up one for my Vibrant since its such a beautiful beast.

Also...wrong forum.

I have an ancient Nokia 2115i. It's got to be 6 years old now. I might have dropped it three times in all that time. The fact that it is rarely used might have something to do with it.
(Still uses the original battery. :D)

I probably dropped my iPhone 2G about 50 times. At least. Probably around a half dozen with my 3GS.

I've dropped my current iphone once, but my last phone a Treo (BARF) I dropped about 4-5 times, I think after 3 I was just trying to break it because I HATED it (work phone, didn't have a say in it).

I've had an Palm Treo 680, AT&T Tilt, Palm Pro, and AT&T Tilt 2. I've dropped all of them numerous time, all of them onto hard surfaces (concrete, stone, tile, asphalt, etc). The chassis on both of the Palms were banged up like none other. I've never cracked or otherwise damaged a screen, though. The chassis on the two Tilts have a couple of scuffs on them, but nothing horrible (at least from being dropped).

Right now I'm carrying both a Motorola Droid2 and a Samsung Captivate. I bought a snap-on case w/ belt holster for the Droid2, with the phone. It is by FAR the most durable phone I've ever seen, and the case lends itself to greatly increased friction - I doubt that even I will drop this one. The Captivate, however.... well, I haven't dropped it yet, but it's just a matter of time. I find its build quality to have strength comparable to a banana, and the friction of olive oil. Not amused by that one. Unfortunately, it's the only decent Android AT&T has right now.

I have an older Blackberry world edition. I have dropped it many many times. At least three times this year that I can remember, probably closer to twenty in the lifetime I've had it.

Still works - Brave smartphone soldier carry on!

I don't have a smartphone, but I dropped my old free phone a million times until the last drop killed it. My next free phone I have also dropped and abused a lot, still works.

Sometimes accidental drop. Sometimes the phone remains in my clothes when I'm not wearing them, and when I fling them somewhere the phone flies off into the wall/floor/ceiling. Sometimes the phone vibrates off of my nightstand or desk. Sometimes in the morning with the phone alarm going off I knock it off the nightstand.
